It’s time once again for New Seasons’ annual Nourish Our Neighbors fundraising event and donation match! See how you can help us make a big impact toward creating greater food access and equity in our communities.
At New Seasons Market, we firmly believe that everyone deserves access to healthy, affordable, and culturally appropriate food. Sadly, 1 in 5 Oregonians experience some level of food insecurity, and that number is even higher in our BIPOC communities.
Addressing the root cause of Hunger requires a comprehensive approach that involves tackling issues such as housing, education, employment, and marginalization. We're committed to doing our part to help create greater food security in the neighborhoods we serve by supporting local organizations addressing Hunger and food inequity in three major areas: food access, environmental action and justice, and neighborhood education.
We have multiple year-long and annual community-supported fundraising programs benefiting local nonprofits, including Nourish Our Neighbors (formerly Community Hunger Match).
Each May, we introduce a new group of local nonprofits working to address food insecurity that will benefit from New Seasons fundraising donations for the next full year. We kick off those new recipient partnerships with Nourish Our Neighbors, our annual week-long community match event.
We invite customers to participate in Nourish Our Neighbors by making donations at the register during checkout, and we match those donations dollar for dollar up to $42,000!
The success of this annal event is thanks to community-minded customers like you, for whom we are immeasurably grateful.
So, are you ready to meet the recipients?
New Seasons Mission Advisory Council served as the selection committee for our Nourish Our Neighbors community partners. With a scorecard and rubric, the council scored program applications submitted by nonprofits based on their impact in three areas: food access, environmental action and justice, and neighborhood education.
Narrowing it down to just ten recipients was no easy task, but we're honored to have landed on the following list of nonprofits making a difference in our communities:
